RAF Buccaneers could only operate from land bases, requiring Chilean support in this context.

The Military Options paper was regularly updated during the war by the Defence Policy Staff, weekly by the time this particular revision was issued, more frequently when requested. It was considered by the Chiefs of Staff Committee. Ministers seem to have had some access to it, although it was not formally circulated to OD(SA).
