Falklands: FCO telegram 888 to UKE Washington (2110Z) ("Personal for Private Secretary from Gillmore") [account of ROE discussions at Chequers] [declassified 28 Dec 2012]

Document type: Declassified documents
Source: FCO7/4568 f6
Editorial comments:

Telegram despatched to Pym via his Private Secretary. The Foreign Secretary was in Washington at this point.

"Our visitor of this morning" and "his hostess in the country" would appear to refer to the Attorney-General Michael Havers and Mrs Thatcher, then at Chequers. Her engagement diary records Havers arriving at 1345. "Leach's political master" must mean Nott.

According to the engagement diary Fieldhouse also attended, 1700-1830.
