Editorial comments: | This exchange is likely in reference to the lead elements of the Carrier Battle Group, five frigates and destroyers led by HMS Brilliant which made best speed so as to be as far south as possible in case the diplomacy required the ships to be halted. The afternote at 1630 mentions five destroyers but this is probably a slip, the group being a mix of destroyers and frigates. See Omand to Coles, 16 Apr 1982. |
