Editorial comments: | Leach's contribution (f1) is hard to read. It seems to say: "A very powerful Royal Naval Task Force, including the carriers Invincible and Hermes, the assault ship HMS Fearless and a number of destroyers and frigates armed with anti-surface and anti-air missiles, together with afloat support is being sailed early next week. A strong force of Royal Marine Commandos and a large number of Sea Harriers, anti-submarine and troop carrying helicopters will be embarked". "Provided by 1SL personally for SofS's speech 2 April 1982". Handwritten comments would appear to be by Lord Trenchard ('Tom'), a Defence Minister of State. |
