War Cabinet - Saw John Nott very confident - PM loves the forces.

Talked to Alfred Goldstein and told him that Serpell was appointed Chairman of Rail Finance enquiry while I was away. I was v. annoyed. Checked TOR [terms of reference?] and insisted on collegiate view of tribunal.

Lunch David Hart - wants to do something for Paddie [Paddie Walters] to keep her (and me) here.

A Smith conveyed to Sarah Hogg our results for B/E ratio for married man + 2 children

E cancelled - on Invergordon too
