The text differs in places from a second MS text of the diary at THCR 6/1/1/30, which probably derived from MT’s office at the House of Commons: elements from that second document have been added to this online version where they add material of substance (and explicitly noted as such).

0850   Arrived at Exeter and met by Mr. Peter Emery, M.P., and Howard Davies (Area Agent)
              Photo call at Exeter Airport plus two-minute interview with Radio Plymouth Sound - Mr. Peter Emery in
              attendance.
0900   Left for Express Creameries, South Weeke, North Tawton, accompanied by Mr. Peter Mills, the local Member
              of Parliament.
1030   Left the Express Creameries
1130   Arrived at Barnstaple at the Civic Centre. Met by Mr. Tony Speller, Member of Parliament for North Devon.
              Met Chairman of the North Devon District Council, Councillor Douglas Potter and the Mayor of Barnstaple,
              Councillor Bill Luxton.
1145   Walkabout in Barnstaple Market
1230   Met the Press and gave TV and radio interviews at the Leisure Centre
1300   Buffet lunch and meeting with Party workers at the Leisure Centre.
