| Editorial comments: | Available on CD-ROM only. Embargoed until 2100. MT was speaking at the centenary dinner of Worcester Conservative Association. Although the speech was released to the press, both the Worcester Evening News report and files in the Thatcher Archive lead one to doubt whether MT delivered the text in this form. An alternative draft - titled "Roots of National Greatness" - was considered for inclusion in a CPS edition of MT’s speeches, but rejected on the ground that too much work was still required to bring it to publication standard (Thatcher Archive: Adam Butler note, 7 July [1978] minuted by MT, n.d). |
