Editorial comments: After lunch at her constituency offices MT went on walkabout 1335-1610. The Finchley Press, 10 June 1983, has an account. She visited Church End, where Conservative support was strong. Journalists largely absented themselves, so she was able to speak with electors. A visit to North Finchley was abandoned within minutes of her arrival due to the press of people, some of them opponents from Labour and the Alliance. She ended the tour with street visits in Whetstone where she came across "nothing but support" - Friar Avenue, Manor Drive and Temple Avenue, "where she gave a short speech".
