Editorial comments: 0830-0945 MT visited Felixstowe docks. The Times, 12 March 1983, reported additional remarks made at Felixstowe docks: "The morale is terrific here. There is a great sense that whatever comes they can tackle and expand. Everyone is working so hard together and are proud to be here". 1215-1400 MT had a private lunch engagement at Robinson College. The East Anglian Daily Times, 12 March 1983, has some slight additional material. MT said that she was glad that the college was science-based and she hoped that some of the students would go into business and make enough money to build another one. The Cambridge Evening News 12 March 1983 has more. MT decribed the college as "Just perfect". "It is an absolutely lovely college, which manages to be original, elegant, beautiful, and functional. The choice of site seems ideal, and the way it’s been adapted to fit in with its environment is just marvellous". Asked about student demonstrator

Later in Cambridge, she walked into a student demonstration by about 400 people.

Six eggs were thrown, but none hit her. Most smacked on the pavement, one hit her car and another was caught smartly by Police Supt John Christopher, formerly a keen cricketer.

The demonstrators carried banners supporting the CND and opposing government cuts, but the Prime Minister looked unflustered as she entered the university's Robinson College for a private lunch.

Before she left the college, attracting the attentions of a smaller demonstration, Mrs Thatcher was asked what she thought of the protesters. “Not much” , she replied.
