And after a relaxing and retiring weekend, except of course when they turn themselves on at full voltage when the photographers happen to be around, the Party Leaders have today launched themselves back into the Election Campaign, at full blast. Mrs. Thatcher began her nationwide tour today, when she flew off to the Prime Minister's stamping ground in South Wales, and Michael Cole was with her.

Cole

Mrs. Thatcher's destination on Day 1 was South Wales, where the Tories have high hopes of capturing the Labour marginal Swansea West.

Heckler

Tory parasite!

Cole

Mrs. Thatcher ignored the demonstration. Inside the Singleton Hospital she found the Tory supporters had virtually taken over the day ward.

Patient

…   . found a lot of current converts here for you.

Mrs. Thatcher

Have you?

Patient

I have indeed.

Mrs. Thatcher

It's a pity I can't take you round with me, I've got a nice bus. A nice big bus, you could come round.

Cole

Then he whispered, ‘Give Ted Heath a job’.

Mrs. Thatcher

I'm not giving any promises, even to you.

Cole

At Swansea Conservative Club, the Party Leader was told that because of the ‘men only’ rule, she couldn't go into the downstairs bar; so Mrs. Thatcher joined the ladies upstairs, saying she was surprised such a rule should still exist.
