Editorial comments: Afternoon. MT "said that the blooms were magnificent and varied. Mrs Thatcher had attended the pre-show luncheon where she congratulated the president of the society, Mr John Perrott, on having a chrysanthemum named after him by one of the leading growers in England, Rileys’ of Derby. After the luncheon at the Tally Ho restaurant, Mrs Thatcher toured the show congratulating the members on their fine exhibits, and then commented on the recent bad weather which had affected some of the blooms" (Finchley Press, 18 September 1970).
