"Speaking on "Women and the law," she pointed out how comparatively quickly events in legislation had moved over the last 50 years or so, from the time when women, in the eyes of the law, were merely the chattels of their husbands, until today, when they could be held responsible in some cases for maintenance of their husbands". A competition followed (longest runner bean). |
